VANDERSTAR ENGINEERING & ASSOCIATES as part of developing a plan for the delivery of communications services to the outback regions of the Northern Territory the company was retained by the Dept of the Chief Minister to review the current state of communications in the Northern Territory in the context of current technology available to provide recommendations for the development of an integrated broadcast and telecommunications infrastructure for the region. Three clear tradeoffs were apparent in terms of the delivery technology, in terms of the system architecture and in terms of network ownership. The resulting report entitled "Toward the Development of an Integrated Telecommunications Network Infrastructure to Serve the Needs of the Northern Territory" was published by the NT Government, October 1985.
