VANDERSTAR ENGINEERING & ASSOCIATES undertook the preliminary engineering phase for the Voisey’s Bay nickel mine, an $800 million project located in Labrador, as a subcontract for SNC Lavelin. The project work involved preparing a comprehensive communications package for quotation purposes and involved the technical specifications preparation for 21 different communications system modules along with the engineering trade off studies and specific recommendations for the VoIP vs Switched Voice, Trucked Radio vs Cellular and Cat5e vs Cat6 Cabling deployments at the mine facility. This engagement was completed over a two month period.
